Breakfast is an important meal of the day. People often try not to skip it but also wish to keep it traditional and healthy. Breakfast a lot of times is connected with traditional food items and recipes of that particular place. As we know breakfasts in India like Gujarat are famous for Khaman Dhokla, Andhra Pradesh for Upma and Karnataka for Dosa. Parathas of Punjab, Kachoris of Rajasthan and Momos of Sikkim all sound delicious.

This was just for India and we see a lot of tasty varieties. What if we try to look into breakfasts all around the world? Interesting, Isn’t it?

From healthy Eggs to tasty pastries, here’s what people have on their plates as breakfast around the globe:-

  • Russia : One of the famous Russian breakfasts is griddle cakes served with honey, jam and cream. To have a clear idea, griddle cake is another name for Pancakes. They can be made with cheese filling or with buckwheat flour also known as blinis.
  • Singapore : Singaporean food dishes are largely influenced by Indian and Malaysian food cuisines. The famous breakfast out there is Kaya Toast. It is prepared by putting sweet creamy Coconut Jam over the bread slice. It is a breakfast staple for Malaysia and Indonesia as well.
  • Brazil : Breakfast in Brazil sure is not a heavy meal. Most people there have morning coffee also known as café da manhã as breakfast. Most of them prefer strong coffee along with some fruits, bread or rolls.
  • Mexico : Mexico is famous for spicy cuisines and that reflects in their breakfasts too. The most common breakfast there is called Huevos Rancheros. It is fried and poached eggs served on a tortilla. Along with some sauce over it.
  • Japan : Japan breakfast is made from a variety of small dishes. They generally include miso soup, rice, soybeans, omelettes and pickled vegetables. Isn’t this all mouth-watering?
  • Egypt : Egypt sure has the healthy breakfast known as ful medames. It is a stew of cooked fava beans. Served along with olive oil, chopped parsley, and lemon and spiced with chilli pepper. It is packed with Vitamins, Minerals and Fibres.
  • United States : US breakfasts generally include pancakes with honey or maple syrup and eggs and toast. Generally accompanied by various fruit juices. Also, waffles are one of the popular dishes there.
  • Canada : Canadian breakfast for sure is accompanied by maple syrup. A variety of pancakes and toasts are popular breakfasts there. Also, eggs and bacon are liked as breakfast there.
  • Finland : Finland’s popular breakfast is oat meat which is served with milk and topped with dry fruits and berries. It is generally referred as Puuro. It is preferred to be sweet. But it is healthy to start for the day.
  • Korea : Breakfast in Korea consists of a variety of small dishes but rice is common in all of them. It often includes rolled omelettes, and pancakes also known as jeon and Kimchi. They commonly referred to it as banchan.
  • China : Breakfast in China widely differs from place to place. Some common breakfast staples include Soyabean Milk, Steamed buns, and Deep-fried dough sticks in a variety of flavours. Also in the Northern part of China, wheat noodles are prominently eaten as breakfast. Tofu is another healthy breakfast item people like to have.
  • Australia : Breakfast around Australia varies from smashed avocado toast to poached eggs. Along with some pickled vegetables and bacon, Australian breakfast shows little similarity with American breakfast.
  • Turkey : A traditional breakfast in Turkey is called Kahvalti. Kahvalti is spread made up of fresh cheese, olives and numerous other small dishes like cheese, eggs and bread.
  • Jamaica : Jamaica’s national dish ackee and saltfish are preferred as breakfast in most of the regions. Ackee is a lychee-type fruit with a little sweet and fresh taste. It is rich in Vitamin A and Antioxidants. Ackee served along with saltfish makes both a healthy and tasty duo for breakfast.
  • Argentina : Facturas is the best choice for food if you land in Argentina. It is a multilayered, doughy sweet pastry. A variety of flavours and shapes makes breakfast more interesting. Often dipped in chocolates and sweet cream pairs up best with strong coffee.
  • Costa Rica : People here start their day with a dish locally called Gallo pinto. High in protein, Gallo pinto has beans and rice as a base topped with various spices like chilli, bell peppers and coriander. It is served along with the eggs, onion and avocados.
  • Italy : Italy and France share a lot of similarities across various cuisines. People here deny the fact to start the day with a heavy meal and prefer to keep it a light start. Coffee sometimes accompanied by toast is the most popular breakfast.
  • Greece : Greek Yoghurt, sounds tasty! Greek Yoghurt served along with nuts and honey is a breakfast staple in Greece. Also eggs, cheese bread and pastries can be found on breakfast menus.
  • Kenya : Chai, sweet and served hot ensures to get you on a fresh start of your day. Fried doughnuts go best with chai. Breakfast here to is preferred to be kept light.
  • Myanmar : The national dish of Myanmar, mohinga is full of flavours, spices and a bit sour makes are best for a fresh and energized start to the day. Boiled eggs and yellow beans along with Green tea are also breakfast staples.

Looking at traditional cuisines across the world we can conclude, that people try to start their way day with dishes closely connected to their culture and place. Some like to keep it light like only coffee and some prefer to keep it a heavy buffet. Some countries try to make it healthy and some like to start with tasty food.
